Teaching Experience
She has been teaching all of her adult life beginning
in 1965. She became a teacher of hypnotherapy in 1987,
teaching workshops on her own as well as for the University
of California in San Francisco for six years. She
taught for three years in a Berkeley, California hypnotherapy
training program, and she has regularly given teaching
presentations for the National Guild of Hypnotists
at their annual conferences since 1993.
Before that, she presented workshops at the American
Council of Hypnotist Examiners conferences for three
years. She has taught Stress Management Programs for
corporations, such as Bay Cable TV Company, and has
been a conference speaker for The Association for
Past Life Research and Therapies.
She is currently the Director and Founder of a California
state-licensed hypnotherapy school, the Center for
Hypnotherapy Certification and a Certified Instructor
for the National Guild of Hypnotists. The school has
also been approved by the International Medical and
Dental Hypnotherapy Association.
She teaches many workshops on such topics as Spiritual
Healing Power; Life-Transformation; Health, Weight
and Lifestyle Transformation; Energy Healing, Compassion;
Success and Prosperity; Miraculous Changes; Radiant
Power; Performance Acceleration; Stress Relief, and
many professional workshops on Hypnotherapy and Healing
of Mind, Body and Spirit.
Marilyn has created her own original hypnotherapy
method, the Transformational Healing Method . She
teaches her method in her training program, in special
weekend seminars, and at conferences. One person has
said, "Your hypnotherapy program is life-changing
work." Another has said, "I feel that your
method of transformational healing is more powerful
than anything I've learned so far, and I've taken
many trainings."
Honors
A Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan,
she is also a member of several other honorary organizations,
including Phi Kappa Phi (1962) and Pi Lambda Theta
(1962). She's been mentioned in Who's Who in America,
in California, ... in the West, ... in Executives
and Professionals, as well as The World Who's Who
of Women, The International Who's Who of Entrepreneurs,
The Dictionary of International Biography, and Outstanding
People of the Twentieth Century. She has been a nominee
for International Woman of the Year from the American
Biographical Institute. She has won three special
awards from the National Guild of Hypnotists: the
Hypnosis Achievement Award for 1997, the Charles Tebbetts
Award for "spreading the light of hypnosis"
in 1999, and in 2002, the Ormond McGill award for
"Outstanding Faculty Member of 2001." This
was given through evaluations from the previous year's
participants at the National Guild of Hypnotists conference.
It's the second highest award at the NGH, a large
worldwide professional organization. In 2005, she
was appointed to a special award council of the NGH,
in which she was given recognition of a lifetime
of outstanding achievement, dedication and service.
She has been featured on the cover of the National
Guild's "Journal of Hypnotism."
Education
She received her BA in English with a double minor
in Social Studies and Education from the University
of Michigan in 1962. She has done graduate studies
in English at the University of California at Berkeley
in 1963, as well as graduate studies in Transpersonal
Psychology at John F. Kennedy University in Orinda
in 1983. She received her certification in Clinical
Hypnotherapy in 1987. She has been practicing hypnotherapy
in a successful private practice since that date.
She became a Board Certified Hypnotherapist (BCH)
in 2004.
Since 1970, she has studied with many teachers and
masters from all over the world -- including high-level
teachers from India and Tibet, various American seminar
leaders and healers and a number of others.
Appearances
She has regularly appeared on radio and television
speaking about healing. She's been a regular guest
on a syndicated radio show called "Seeing Beyond,"
as well as other radio programs, notably "The
Judith Conrad Show." She has also given presentations
and workshops for the American Council of Hypnotist
Examiners, The National Guild of Hypnotists, and The
Association for Past-Life Research and Therapies.
For five years, she led retreats to Hawaii, Mount
Shasta and other areas to teach personal growth. She
has given presentations at the Whole Life Expo in
Northern California for nine years. She has given
talks for many groups -- Lions, Rotary Clubs, and
many other organizations. She has been featured in
a magazine called "Catalyst" in 1996, in
which she was interviewed about the work of hypnotherapy.
Memberships
Marilyn Gordon is a member of the National Guild of
Hypnotists, the International Hypnosis Federation,
and the International Association of Spiritual Academies.
She is a previous member of the International Medical
and Dental Hypnotherapy Association, the American
Council of Hypnotist Examiners, the American Counseling
Association and the Association for Past Life Research
and Therapies.
Administration
Since 1987, she has administered a successful hypnotherapy
practice with thousands of clients. She has also administered
teaching programs since 1988, including the Center
for Hypnotherapy Certification and the hundreds of
workshops, retreats, trainings and seminars she has
given over the years. Students have given superior
evaluations of the learning programs in which they've
participated.
